Fingerprint Driver Acer Travelmate 2300
ABCDEF,
Do you have the actual spot to swipe your fingerprint on your unit if you went through these steps, or do you have Acer Pro Shield installed?
Dear Acer-Justin,
My problem is that I don't have Bio Protection, nor Pro Shied. I have no preinstalled fingerprint reader software. When I go to Control Panel > Biometric Devices, I can see 'EgisTec Fingerprint Sensor', which is 'Not enrolled', and when I click 'Use your fingerprint with Windows', this shows up. So I have the driver, only the program is missing.
ABCDEF,
Do you have the actual spot to swipe your fingerprint on your unit?- Acer-Justin,
If you mean the hardware part, of course I have it. But I don't have a Bio Protection folder in Acer folder. ABCDEF,
My recommendation would be to access the Acer eRecovery partition and reinstall the application from there (reinstall applications and drivers).
Acer-Justin,
I couldn't reach the eRecovery partition at boot-up by pressing Alt+F10. I think it's not even there, since I have formatted the hard drive before installing Windows (my notebook was delivered with Linux on it).
ABCDEF,
If you formatted the drive then the partition itself is gone. If you reinstall the operating system using the recovery media it will put the system as it was from the manufacturer, meaning if it had Windows installed you can get access to that recovery partition again.
Acer-Justin,
Since the original OS was a Linux (and I want Windows on my notebook), recovery can't help. So I would like to know the following: if there is a way to get an official program for Acer notebooks, which handles the fingerprint sensor, where can I find it (download it)? Or, if there isn't any, what third-party software would be a good decision?
Thanks in advane!
ABCDEF,
The drivers and applications that we have listed on our support site are the only thing that we can recommend, and the only thing I see if the fingerprint driver itself. We do not have any third-party recommendations, unfortunately.
Acer-Justin,
Thank you for all ideas you've suggested, I will then continue to search at other sites.
