Heroquest was the first “role-playing” board game that I ever played. We played it on a family holiday in Wales and then my little brother was bought it for Christmas. So aged about 9 I began GMing and this has grown into a true love of role-playing and board-gaming that has never left me. There are three parts to Advanced HeroQuest: the miniatures; the rules; & the game boards/counters. We have re-written the rules for clarity, tweaked a few of them for balance and/or to make the game flow better, and expanded them to make a fully rounded-out system. The cool chaps over at STC-Zero have decided to host printable board. HeroQuest, sometimes written as Hero Quest, is an adventure board game created by Milton Bradley in conjunction with the British company Games Workshop. The game was loosely based around archetypes of fantasy role-playing games: the game itself was actually a game system, allowing the gamemaster (called 'Zargon' in the United States and Canada) to create dungeons of their own design using the. In this turn-based board game in a fantasy setting, you can play with 1 to 4 players in hotseat mode (i.e. The same computer). Designed primarily with kids in mind, the rules of HeroQuest are easy to learn, but the game is a lot of fun, thanks to cool-looking miniatures and solid atmosphere.

Description of HeroQuest

A great PC version of the equally underrated board game of the same name from Games Workshop, Hero Quest is an isometric tabletop strategy/RPG game that simplifies RPG statistics without simplifying gameplay.

As in the board game, up to 5 players can play the game as wizard, elf, barbarian or dwarf in a quest to banish the evil wizard. Secret doors, traps and treasure abound in this turn-based, mission-based game. Good game in every respect and severely underrated.

Those who like this game should also try Space Crusade another Games Workshop boardgame conversion based on the much-improved version of the game engine.

Easiest way to play (and this goes for most Dos games)
1.Download and install Dosbox and open the installed folder
2.Open the dosbox.conf file and copy/paste the text below at at the very bottom
@echo off
mount C C:HQ
C:
HERO.EXE
exit
2.Dload this game/extract/and rename just the folder with all the files in it (hero-quest) to HQ and copy/paste the whole folder to C:
3.Start the game with the desktop shortcut or make one using Dosbox.exe
Note:Keep the dosbox.conf file you added text too.For each new game you want to play, simply name your game folder to something short and put that where HQ is in the text and find the game file (.exe / .bat or whatever) and put that where it says HERO.EXE in the text. And lastly don't forget to copy the games folder to C:

A good game, funny how the music that plays is the opening intro to 'Golden Brown' by the Stranglers. (Anybody whose ever seen Snatch knows this song.) I was surprised to find it in a game. I had the board game as a kid but never got to play it, this game makes up for it, it's decent.

I loved this game when I was a kid. Still have the original board game and three other expansion packs; all with the original pieces and all in mint condition! Saw on-line this could all see close to a $1,000, who knew lol.
Just waiting for my kids to grow up so we can play. In the mean time I did find four friends to play it with and we all love it again and we're in our thirty's lol.

I still have this table top game. I have one of the expansions and I still have all the pieces too. Too bad no one wants to play. =(

You should not have lost any of the pieces. I didn't want to collect it, I just wanted to play it. Thought, I'll just pick one up on ebay or something. OVER $300.00. Uh... Just wanted to play. Not that bad. Maybe I can get this to work, and it will satisfy my urges.

Apparently this game is based on the Warhammer universe, according to Wikipedia.

I use to play the board game when I was a teenager and I loved it. Unfortunately, my brothers thought it was boring.
Now, I lost all the pieces to the game, but I am glad to see that there is a pc version I was not aware of.
